Recently, the Construction and Preservation Plans for Yellow River National Cultural Park were jointly released by departments including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the National Cultural Heritage Administration.
The Plans mentioned nine provinces and regions through which the Yellow River flows, namely Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong. The core area consists of county-level administrative regions along the main and tributary streams of the Yellow River, with the possibility of extending to closely connected regions based on actual conditions in each place and the development history of the former course of the Yellow River.
The Plans included a proposal to develop an overall spatial layout characterized by "one leading corridor, seven collaborative zones and eight supporting belts" for the development of Yellow River National Cultural Park, with a focus on the construction of four key areas with different functions including conservation and protection, thematic exhibition, culture-tourism integration and tradition utilization. Additionally, the Plans emphasized five critical tasks, including comprehensively strengthening the protection and inheritance of cultural heritage, deepening research and exploration of the Yellow River culture, improving environmental and supporting facilities, promoting the integration of the Yellow River culture and tourism, and enhancing the intelligence empowerment of the Digital Yellow River.
In the next step, relevant departments including the National Development and Reform Commission, together with the nine provinces and regions along the Yellow River, will systematically promote the implementation of the Plans, accelerate the construction of the key areas with different functions, and coordinate the implementation of major projects. Their common goal is to protect and carry forward the Yellow River culture and effectively tell the story of the Yellow River.
