The Hurun Research Institute released the Hurun China New Energy Cities 2022, a list of the Top 50 cities in China with the highest concentration of new energy companies. This is the first year of the list. Shandong had the third most cities on the list with six, i.e. Jinan, Qingdao, Weifang, Zibo, Dezhou and Yantai, accounting for 12% of the list.
Rupert Hoogewerf, Chairman and Chief Researcher of Hurun Report, said that the survey scope of this list covered all provincial cities, sub-provincial cities and prefecture-level cities in China, and the Hurun Research Institute collected information on the number of large new energy companies, the number of small and medium-sized new energy companies, and the announcements of significant new energy initiatives and investments in each city and gave a score. Finally, all the information was consolidated and a ranking was made.
The factors for the final ranking included: the number of 'Large New Energy Companies'; the number of small and medium-sized new energy companies; and the announcements of significant new energy initiatives and investments. Specifically, the number of 'Large New Energy Companies' and the number of small and medium-sized new energy companies can reflect the concentration of new energy companies in a city; and the announcements of significant new energy initiatives and investments can reflect the potential and sustainability of a city in the concentration of new energy companies.
