As a major player in the ecological conservation and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, Shandong Province has been following an eco-friendly, green development path, with economic development and ecological conservation planned and implemented in sync.
To foster a strong new energy industry, the province has been promoting the building of an offshore wind power base, an offshore PV base, an integrated base of “wind power and PV energy storage and transmission” in the saline beaches of northern Shandong, a “PV+” base in the coal mining subsidence area of southwest Shandong, a nuclear power base on the Jiaodong Peninsula, a demonstration of large-scale PV development in whole counties, and a demonstration of green energy development in “1,000 villages of 100 towns”. Thanks to those efforts, the province has achieved rapid growth in new energy and renewable energy generation, achieving a 28.8% year-on-year increase in the first half of 2022, accounting for 37.3% of all installed capacity. The province has been pushing for the construction of green factories, building 13 national green parks, 223 green factories and four green data centers, unleashing low-carbon efficiency in industrial development, and the “Shandong model” of green, low-carbon and high-quality development is taking shape and emerging.
