Despite the great impact of the pandemic, the sales of Qingdao Yunlu Advanced Materials Technology Co., Ltd. has risen instead, which is attributed to the key and core technologies of amorphous strip new materials. Relying on this leading enterprise, Qingdao is stepping up efforts to build the country's first "dual-carbon" soft magnetic industrial park, which is focused on key core technologies such as nanocrystalline ultra-thin strips and magnetic powders and will be extended to fields like mobile phones, maglev trains, and particle accelerators.

In terms of new materials, Zibo National New & Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone and Shandong Industrial Ceramics Research & Design Institute Co., Ltd. have jointly built Zibo Ceramics Innovation Valley, created public technical service platforms for biomedical materials and others, and developed more than 20 products that have been rated as national-level new products.

The industry of new materials ranks among the top ten industries in the province. At present, Shandong is building 11 "wild goose queue" clusters of new materials and endeavoring to attract high-level innovation platforms such as the National Rare Earth Catalysis Research Institute to settle in the province, in order to strengthen and expand the new materials industry and promote green, low-carbon, and high-quality development. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Shandong will focus on key technologies in such areas as cutting-edge functional materials, metal materials, inorganic non-metallic materials, and new polymer materials to cement its dominant position across the country in new material R&D and industrialization.
