A mobile app launched in July for non-coal mines in Shandong has been adopted by 97 companies and logged 1,775 hazard reports, Shandong’s emergency management department said. The feature is built into the province’s non-coal mine safety risk monitoring and early warning system. Frontline workers can report hazards through the phone app, creating a full closed loop — from reporting to rectification, acceptance and closure — while regulators monitor online in real time. At Shandong Wangcun Bauxite Mine Co., Ltd., an employee spotted an equipment hazard and reported it promptly. The company moved quickly to fix it and gave the worker a reward. Next, the provincial emergency management department will keep leveraging digital tools to encourage frontline staff to hunt for hazards, aiming for earlier detection and faster handling.
