Weihai Builds a High-Quality Model for Integrated Health Tourism Services

Weihai is leveraging the ecological advantages of its “1001 Coastal Drive” to deepen the integration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), elderly care, and tourism. The city has built 18 demonstration bases for TCM health tourism, developed a health and wellness product system featuring coastal and hot spring offerings, and planned a 45-square-kilometer core zone for health and wellness tourism. It is also improving elderly care supply, innovating medical-elderly care consortia and pioneering sojourn-style senior living. On that foundation, Weihai is drawing on distinctive industries such as WEGO medical devices and American ginseng to strengthen its medical and health care cluster. It is also using its advantages as a pilot zone for China–ROK economic cooperation to advance TCM reform and mutual recognition of testing, unlocking dividends from inbound tourism. Now Weihai is carrying out targeted investment promotion around key enterprises, accelerating the implementation of health and wellness projects and developing new formats such as all-age sojourn living and smart elderly care — all aimed at building a high-quality model city for health and wellness tourism.
