On October 13, the Shandong-themed event for World Standards Day 2026 was held in Jinan. With industrial competition increasingly centered on standards and rules, Shandong continues to convert its strengths in standardization into industrial competitiveness. To date, the province has led or contributed to the formulation of 387 international standards, 13,500 national standards, and 16,000 industry standards, spanning key fields such as industry, public well-being, and governance.
In future-oriented industries like quantum technology and advanced materials, Shandong is actively securing a stronger voice in international standard-setting. In manufacturing, companies such as Prinx Chengshan and Rope Technology are leveraging standardization to upgrade operations, elevate quality, and boost efficiency—transitioning from merely exporting products to exporting standards. To address regulatory gaps in emerging sectors such as medical assistance and the pet economy, Shandong has rolled out local and association standards. Notably, its standards for cat litter have helped local products reach more than 90 countries and regions. Shandong continues to channel innovative achievements into practical application through standards, steadily enhancing the core competitiveness of its industries.
