Shandong's Binzhou Shores up Green Foundations, Unlocks Low-Carbon Momentum

Green and low-carbon development is the defining feature of high-quality growth. Since the start of this year, Binzhou has stayed focused on green, low-carbon and high-quality development, rolling out a coordinated package of policies, projects, and funding to further refine its "Binzhou model" for green transition. Specifically, the city pushed 40 key projects into the provincial 15th Five-Year Plan outline, landed 67 green breakthrough projects, and secured a total of 2.18 billion yuan in policy funding for energy conservation, carbon reduction and equipment renewal. Its approved quota for equipment renewal funding ranked first in Shandong.

On that basis, Binzhou is working to cultivate new-energy industry clusters and planning the Bohai Bay Future Sci-Tech Power Industrial City. A number of wind power, energy storage and zero-carbon intelligent computing projects have been implemented and gone into production. At the same time, it is accelerating the transformation of its energy mix and improving charging infrastructure, achieving full coverage of public charging stations in every township. It has also deeply integrated into the major national strategy for the Yellow River, breaking down 98 key annual tasks. Its comprehensive green and low-carbon performance index growth rate ranks second in the province. As a result, the city's energy intensity fell 5.8% in the first half of the year, and it has won provincial energy conservation and emission reduction rewards and subsidies for four consecutive years. Through industrial upgrading and energy innovation, Binzhou is activating new momentum for low-carbon development.
