Recently, the General Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province issued the Implementation Guidelines on Boosting Smart Agriculture, launching an "Artificial Intelligence (AI) + Agriculture" initiative. This effort aims to drive the full-chain integration of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, AI, and agricultural robots, positioning the province as a national hub for smart agriculture. By 2030, the province aims to establish 80 digital agriculture counties and 300 advanced smart agriculture application scenarios, raising the informatization rate of agricultural production to over 60%.
Focusing on stabilizing and increasing grain yields, the document proposes building a space-ground integrated monitoring network for four key agricultural conditions (soil moisture, crop growth, pests, and disasters), and promoting the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System alongside smart fertigation management. By 2030, the application area of fertigation systems for grain and oilseed crops is expected to reach 20 million mu (13,333.33 km²). Additionally, efforts will be made to advance the digital transformation of facility agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries, while promoting the widespread adoption of smart equipment. Furthermore, the provincial germplasm resource database will be leveraged to empower breeding innovation through AI. To strengthen the digital infrastructure, Shandong will enhance the "Qilu Agricultural Cloud" as its agricultural digital brain, expand the application of the "LuNong Code" and "Qilu Agricultural Supermarket" platforms, and streamline the agriculture-related digital service chain.
