Weifang Zone Taps Specialty Quail Farming to Drive "One Village, One Industry" Momentum

The Weifang Economic Development Zone in Shandong Province is developing a specialty quail farming industry, using technology, industrial integration and multi-village coordination to turn a small local business into a pillar industry that boosts rural incomes and revitalizes villages. The zone has built a standardized smart breeding industrial park featuring multi-tier cage farming and fully automated equipment. It has also introduced a zero-carbon model that combines rooftop solar power generation with eco-friendly breeding below, significantly cutting operating costs and enabling green, high-efficiency mass production that helps farmers earn more.

Authorities have established a "company + cooperative + farmer" benefit-sharing mechanism, offering integrated services for chicks, feed, technology and sales. They are also developing deep processing of quail eggs to extend the industry chain and incorporate agricultural education tours and rural cultural tourism, promoting deeper integration of primary, secondary and tertiary industries. The industry is now spurring coordinated development of surrounding villages and creating local jobs. Once the full chain reaches full production, it is expected to provide more than 2,000 jobs, further strengthening a distinctive model of rural industrial revitalization and common prosperity across the region.
