Shandong Launches the "Jiaolun Yuzhi" AI Innovation Ecosystem

Recently, following the petrochemical industry's "Huayu Tiangong" initiative, Shandong launched the "Jiaolun Yuzhi" Innovation Ecosystem Co-construction Plan to promote the deep integration of large artificial intelligence (AI) models across the entire tire production chain. Guided by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province, the initiative was jointly launched in collaboration with universities, telecommunications carriers, tire manufacturers, and digital service providers.

Shandong's tire industry leads the nation in scale, with production expected to reach 510 million tires in 2025. The province has ranked first nationally in multiple export metrics for 30 consecutive years. However, the industry faces pain points such as high error rates in manual quality inspections, traditional vulcanization processes hindering smart transformation, and difficulties in commercializing research outcomes.

The plan aims to establish a collaborative innovation mechanism integrating government, industry, academia, research, and application. Universities will provide cutting-edge technologies, enterprises will open up production and testing scenarios, and service providers will offer 5G private networks, industrial large models, and support for new process equipment. The project's first pilot has been launched in Guangrao, Dongying. Once mature, the relevant digital solutions will be made widely accessible to small and medium-sized tire enterprises, lowering the barrier to industry-wide transformation.

As a key practice of Shandong's "AI + Manufacturing" initiative, this program focuses on establishing a long-term collaborative mechanism to promote process innovation and digital empowerment in tandem, thereby fostering new quality productive forces for traditional manufacturing.
