13 Cities Selected for Shandong's First "AI + Manufacturing" Pioneer Application Incubation List

On June 10, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province announced the first batch of cities selected for the "AI + Manufacturing" Pioneer Application Incubation List, with 13 cities, including Jinan and Qingdao, successfully making the list. The selection targeted ten key manufacturing sectors, including chemicals, machinery and equipment, and electronic information. Localities developed differentiated strategies based on their respective industrial strengths. Specifically, four cities took up the challenge in the chemical sector, while the machinery and equipment and the textile and apparel sectors each saw participation from three cities. The evaluation system uses a 100-point scale to assess projects across four key dimensions: industry fundamentals, project scope, implementation plans, and organizational support. Over the next three years, Shandong plans to cultivate approximately 10 provincial-level "AI + Manufacturing" pioneer applications, establish a network of AI competence centers across the province's 41 industrial sectors, and promote 100 high-value intelligent application scenarios. The ultimate goal is to build a national model hub for AI-empowered manufacturing development.
