Shandong's offshore wind power has achieved leapfrog development, with a cumulative installed capacity of 6.11 million kW, ranking third nationwide and entering the front rank in the country. Since the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Shandong has focused on three major areas—Bozhong, the southern part of the Shandong Peninsula, and the northern part of the Shandong Peninsula—to develop 10-million-kW offshore wind power bases. SPIC Shandong Corporation has built four wind farms with 235 turbines, generating over 10 billion kWh of cumulative electricity, enough to meet the annual electricity needs of 3.38 million households. The V site project in the southern part of the Shandong Peninsula set a record for rapid construction, featuring the country's first 220 kV modular offshore booster station. Shandong has established three major wind power equipment manufacturing bases in Dongying, Yantai, and Weihai, forming a comprehensive industrial chain. The world's largest 26-MW wind turbine unit has been connected to the grid for power generation.
