Jinan's Quantum Tech: On the Verge of Mass Application Capturing a Single Snowflake from 6 km Away

The development of Jinan's quantum industry began in 2011 with the establishment of the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology. In the decade since, Jinan has repeatedly made "0-to-1" breakthroughs in quantum technology. In 2025, the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology, in collaboration with multiple organizations, achieved the world's first real-time satellite-to-ground quantum key distribution between the "Jinan-1" micro-nano satellite and a miniaturized mobile ground station. Separately, accomplishments such as the "Zuchongzhi-3" superconducting quantum computing prototype have set new world records, with their key components manufactured in Jinan.

To date, the Jinan Institute of Quantum Technology has spearheaded the development of 18 national standards, nine of which have been published and implemented. In the three key fields of quantum communication, quantum computing, and quantum precision measurement, Jinan has made a significant leap, progressing from a "follower" to a "peer" and now a "partial leader."
