Qingdao Now Hosts Eight Global Lighthouse Factories

Recently, the World Economic Forum released its latest list of “Lighthouse Factories.” Qingdao Haier Water Purification Interconnected Factory and Hisense Qingdao Factory were included, becoming the world’s first lighthouse factories in the water purification and television industries, respectively. As of now, Qingdao has eight global Lighthouse Factories, ranking second nationwide and first among sub-provincial cities.

The core competitiveness of Qingdao Haier Water Purification Interconnected Factory lies in the deep integration of AI technology throughout all stages of the water purification process. By introducing AI algorithms and deploying 32 digital solutions, the factory has reduced product defect rates by 40%, lowered quality-related costs by 72%, and shortened inventory turnover days by 53%.

At Hisense Qingdao Factory, the digitalized high-efficiency TV production line integrates 25 types of self-developed, AI-powered automation equipment—including 11 industry-first innovations—achieving the remarkable output of one 85-inch large-screen TV every 20 seconds.
