Jining Port has become the first port on China's northern inland waterways to handle over 100 million tons of cargo, joining the country's ranks of 100-million-ton ports. As a key city along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Jining's proposal for its 15th Five-Year Plan outlines "three core strategic positions" for urban development, with becoming a "northern inland waterway shipping center" as a prominent goal. The plan also focuses on establishing "seven major hubs," including a "modern port and shipping logistics hub."

Currently, Jining's high-grade waterway network spans 360 kilometers and includes 103 berths with a capacity of 1,000 tons or more, creating an inland shipping hub that connects northern and southern China. The city has also launched 30 container routes, with its logistics network now covering 152 cities nationwide. The economies of scale of seven major ten-billion-yuan port-side industrial zones, including the Liangshan Port Coal and Steel Logistics Zone, are now prominent, highlighting the remarkable success of integrated port-industry development.

Jining will focus on its goal of becoming a "Northern Inland Waterway Shipping Center," accelerating the development of "three 100-million-ton port clusters" and "seven ten-billion-yuan port-side zones." The city is fully committed to creating a modern port and shipping logistics hub and establishing an open transportation corridor that is well-connected both internally and externally, linking its rivers to the sea.
