In recent years, Jining in Shandong Province has been nurturing its rich cultural heritage, driving the creative transformation and innovative development of China's outstanding traditional culture. The city has breathed new life into precious legacies, woven ancient wisdom into everyday living, and shared its brilliant civilization with the world.
Jining has successfully hosted over 40 editions of the China International Confucius Culture Festival and 11 editions of the Nishan Forum on World Civilizations. These events not only serve as bridges for cross-cultural dialogue, but also continuously highlight the value of culture through interactive exchange and resonance.
Leveraging institutions such as the Confucius Research Institute and the Mencius Research Institute, Jining has partnered with 16 universities—including Tsinghua University and Peking University—to establish joint graduate programs. These efforts further the modernization and reinterpretation of Confucian culture. To date, the city has undertaken more than 100 national and provincial-level research projects, and published over 160 works, including the Series on the Civilizations of Chinese Rituals and Music and the Interpretations of China's Eight Traditional Virtues.
