Recently, Shandong issued its first locally tested EU MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) certificate. This indicates that Shandong, as one of China's main production bases for measuring instruments, will now provide a smoother path for local instrument manufacturers into the EU market.
MID certification is a mandatory EU compliance system for measuring instruments. It covers 10 major categories, such as water meters and electricity meters, and serves as a "passport" for these products to enter the EU market.
Emeryck Morel, Director of the Instrumentation Certification Department at the LNE-Cnam, said that they will deepen cooperation with the Shandong Institute of Metrology (SDIM) in areas such as OIML (The International Organization of Legal Metrology) certification and OIML test laboratories. This collaboration will help Shandong—and China as a whole—better align with international standards and open a fast track to the global market for measuring instruments.
