"Three Marine Treasures" Become the Best Ambassadors for Weihai's Seafood in Shandong

Recently, the China Seafood Summit 2025 was held in Weihai, Shandong. As a national industry event, the choice of Weihai—China's top fishing city—as the host location affirms the city's achievements in fishery transformation and upgrading as well as high-quality development of the marine economy.

Weihai's high-quality seafood is renowned both at home and abroad, with the "Three Marine Treasures"—Weihai Sea Cucumber, Rongcheng Kelp, and Rushan Oyster—being household names. With a coastline of 968 kilometers, Weihai is home to over 300 economic species and an annual aquatic product output exceeding 3.4 million tons. The city has established a complete industrial chain spanning breeding, aquaculture, processing, and logistics.

In recent years, Weihai has adhered to the "Six Guidelines": scientific ocean use, technology-driven marine development, industrial strengthening of the marine sector, ecological marine conservation, open ocean cooperation, and maritime safety. These efforts continue to enhance the modern marine industry system, with the marine industry now accounting for 38.2% of the city's GDP.
