Recently, the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province released the Notice on Further Accelerating the Systematic Planning and High-Level Construction of Manufacturing Pilot-Scale Testing Platforms. As per the document, Shandong will systematically advance the development of provincial-level pilot-scale testing platforms in line with the approach of filling gaps while strengthening and activating existing ones.
Specifically, the province will promote the coordination between the construction of pilot-scale testing platforms and the existing pilot functions of sci-tech innovation platforms and bases. This will be integrated with the development of innovation incubation centers and industrial development clusters, such as national high-tech industrial development zones, industrial parks, advanced manufacturing clusters, and characteristic industrial clusters for small and medium-sized businesses. The aim is to create superposition, aggregation, and multiplication effects.
Meanwhile, the province will also focus on key industries and fields that are crucial for future development, related to industrial security, and in short supply of pilot-scale testing development capabilities and fill gaps in pilot-scale testing platforms based on its characteristic strengths. Among these industries and fields are AI, humanoid robots, quantum technology, clean and low-carbon hydrogen, biomedicine, industrial mother machines, instrumentation, major technical equipment, new materials, and information technology.
