National-Level Research Project Approved at Qingdao International Cruise Port Area

Recently, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China officially approved the Qingdao International Cruise Port Area to conduct major national-level research projects, aiming to explore the Qingdao practice for the construction of consumption facilities and scenario improvement of the cruise home port, fill domestic research gaps in the relevant field, and offer replicable practical experience for the industry.

It is learned that the project centers on facility upgrades, diverse business formats, and scenario integration, driving the transformation of the cruise home port from a mere transportation hub to an iconic cultural and tourism consumption landmark. Qingdao's cruise industry is showing strong momentum, having received 71,000 passengers in 2024, ranking 5th in the country. Moreover, nearly 30 voyages are expected to be operated in 2025.

As its central hub, Qingdao International Cruise Port Area is seeing rapid and continuous development. Seventeen major projects, including the Eye of the World and Container Tribe, are slated to be fully operational by 2026, aiming to establish a future-oriented experience center that brings together culture, tourism, arts, shopping, and seaside leisure.
