Shandong Accelerates Deep Integration of Transportation and AI

Recently, the Shandong Provincial Department of Transportation issued the Shandong Province "Artificial Intelligence + Transportation" Innovation Application Action Plan. According to the Plan, by 2030, Shandong aims to achieve deep integration of transportation and artificial intelligence (AI), initially establishing a "transportation AI system" characterized by coordinated operations, multi-sector integration, precision, and scale. New-generation AI technologies, including large models, will be widely applied in key areas such as smart highways, ports, shipping, and transportation services. The province seeks to take the national lead in developing digital transportation infrastructure and intelligent equipment industrial clusters, creating a replicable Shandong model.

The Plan outlines eight key tasks, including strengthening the digital foundation of transportation AI infrastructure; advancing innovative applications in areas such as AI-powered smart highways, airports, ports, shipping, and rail transit; and enhancing the convenience of AI-enabled transportation services.
