Shandong Ranks Second Nationally with 49 Excellent Smart Factories

The Shandong Provincial "AI+" Innovative Application Work Conference was recently convened. To date, Shandong has established 49 national excellent smart factories, ranking second nationwide.

In January 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the first batch of excellent smart factory projects, totaling 235, with 22 factories located in Shandong Province. The 2025 list of excellent smart factory projects was recently announced, comprising 274 selected enterprises, 27 of which are from Shandong Province.

Shandong has launched an open competition mechanism for the development of large-scale industry models, fostering the growth of leading and pioneering enterprises, especially growing and emerging ones. Currently, the province hosts over 400,000 core enterprises in the digital economy sector, ranking third nationwide. Efforts have been made to cultivate 112 data-driven, model-powered "industrial brains" and 5,657 "morning star factories".
