Director Wang Rentang of the Oceanic Administration of Shandong Province stated in a recent interview program that Shandong will continue to release the potential of the "blue granary" through a three-pronged approach.

First, the province will promote technological innovation. Research institutes, universities, and seed companies will be encouraged to collaboratively carry out a "Blue Seed Industry" innovation initiative, focusing on key issues of "seed chips" to develop new suitable high-quality varieties. It is necessary to launch critical technology research in fisheries, promote standardized, industrialized, and intelligent production in the sector, and enhance the quality and efficiency of marine fisheries development.

Second, the province will boost the development of the entire industrial chain. Modern fishery parks will be built with focus on main species such as salmon and prawns. Deep processing of aquatic products will be developed to meet the diverse needs of the market. Distinctive fishery brands will be fostered to enhance their influence. New business forms such as fishery tourism and study tours will be facilitated to promote the integration of the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries.

Third, the province will expand the development space for fisheries. Efforts will be under way to promote the expansion of fisheries into deeper and farther seas, develop green ecological aquaculture, and build marine ranches at a high level.
