The First Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Standardization Cooperation Meeting Held in Qingdao

On July 8, the first Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Standardization Cooperation Meeting was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. This meeting marks the establishment of the first standardization cooperation mechanism under the framework of the SCO, providing institutional support for standardization cooperation among SCO member states.

The meeting was jointly initiated by the State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration of the P.R.C.) and the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Russian Federation. It featured in-depth discussions on establishing a standardization cooperation mechanism under the framework of the SCO, enhancing standardization cooperation in key sectors, developing a standardization information platform, and promoting standardization capacity building. The meeting adopted the Qingdao Initiative on Strengthening Standardization Cooperation among National Standardization Bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
