Shandong Launches 122 Industry-Specific Large Model Breakthrough Projects for Open Competition

The Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province recently launched the application process for the 2025 industry-specific large model breakthrough projects for open competition. Through a process of enterprise applications, municipal recommendations, expert evaluations, and online public disclosure, a total of 122 breakthrough projects have been selected. These include the chemical industry large model by Yunding Technology Co., Ltd. and the water-saving irrigation equipment large model by the Shandong Computer Science Center (National Supercomputing Center in Jinan).

Shandong boasts a comprehensive industrial system, large-scale operations, deep integration of IT and industrialization, and abundant industrial data resources. With the goal of "one model for each industry", the province is advancing the development of industry-specific large models through open competition. Collaboration across industry, academia, research, and application is encouraged to accelerate breakthroughs in generic technologies such as multimodal data integration, construction of industrial knowledge bases (high-quality data sets of large models in vertical domains), and lightweight deployment of large models. These efforts aim to accelerate the cultivation of a number of advanced and applicable AI large model products.
