Qingdao recently convened an industry ecosystem development summit focused on embodied AI, positioning humanoid robotics as a strategic priority within its “10+1” industrial framework. The city aims to emerge as northern China’s premier innovation cluster and integrated R&D-manufacturing base for embodied AI technologies.
Central to the event was the release of the Qingdao Embodied AI Industry 2025 Action Plan, which maps 26 strategic initiatives across five pillars: technological breakthroughs to strengthen core capabilities; platform development to create new innovation engines; full-chain manufacturing to optimize production processes; resource integration to consolidate development elements; ecosystem cultivation to build industrial magnetism. The blueprint accelerates progress on two provincial advanced manufacturing hubs led by tech giants Haier and Hisense while implementing market-driven funding mechanisms like the “Open Challenge” and “Innovation Derby” programs. These measures aim to fast-track commercialization of frontier technologies and resolve critical R&D bottlenecks through competitive resource allocation.
