Currently, Shandong prioritizes the high-quality development of its light industry and sports supplies manufacturing sector. It focuses on key areas, critical links, and leading enterprises in the industrial chain, and continuously enhances fiscal incentive policies.

Shandong's sports supplies manufacturing industry is experiencing a distinct trend of industrial agglomeration and development, with accelerated transformation and upgrading. At present, the province is home to 143 sports supplies manufacturing enterprises above the designated size, and it holds the leading market share nationally in commercial fitness equipment, fishing tackle, ski gloves, and sports rope nets. The industry framework features leading cities such as Dezhou (high-end sports equipment) and Weihai (fishing tackle) as well as supporting cities such as Qingdao (high-end fitness equipment), Jining (ski gloves), and Binzhou (sports rope nets).

Reports indicate that Shandong will foster the expansion and growth of three leading industries: competitive sports equipment, fitness equipment, and fishing tackle. The province aims to refine and optimize three characteristic and advantageous sectors: ski gloves, fitness trails, and sports rope nets. Additionally, Shandong plans to accelerate the development of three emerging industries: cycling equipment, outdoor leisure sports equipment, and ice and snow sports equipment, with the overall goal of effectively promoting industrial development.
