Dongying City in Shandong: Advancing the Integrated Development of Sci-Tech Industries

In recent years, Dongying City in Shandong has achieved breakthrough progress across various initiatives by strengthening regional technological innovation capabilities, advancing the integrated development of sci-tech industries, and accelerating the cultivation of new quality productive forces.

By establishing an industrial innovation platform system, Dongying City is committed to transforming the momentum of technological innovation into a growth driver for local development. This year, key priorities include completing the three-year construction of the National Center of Technology Innovation for Comprehensive Utilization of Saline-Alkali Land, establishing the Shengxing Base of the State Key Laboratory for Heavy Oil, and building cooperation platforms such as the Macromolecular Material R&D Center jointly developed by Huatai Chemical and Tsinghua University. Additionally, the Carbon Neutrality Joint Research Institute will establish three State Grid Testing and Certification Centers focusing on hydrogen comprehensive energy storage, energy storage safety, and photovoltaic-wind power generation. Support will be provided to the Rare Earth Catalysis Research Institute to accelerate breakthroughs in critical catalyst materials, including zero-carbon power and alumina microspheres. Moreover, endeavors will be made to advance pilot projects such as narrow-distribution rare earth butadiene rubber at the High-End Petrochemical Research Institute. In Dongying City, about 50 municipal key laboratories in fields such as the high-end chemical industry, cell and gene therapy, and synthetic biology will undergo optimization and restructuring.
