Qingdao, Shandong: The "New Engine" of the Marine Economy Projected to Reach an Output Value of 10 Billion Yuan

A few days ago, the Qingdao Marine Hi-Tech Zone announced exciting news: the Modern Marine Biological Industry Cluster in Qingdao's Xihai'an New District, based in the Marine Biological Industry Park, was successfully selected into the first batch of modern marine characteristic industry clusters in the province, standing as the only modern marine industry cluster selected in the field of marine biology in the region.

Currently, the cluster comprises 63 high-tech enterprises and 71 technology-driven small and medium-sized businesses. It has successfully established 15 national scientific research platforms, 17 provincial scientific research platforms, and 39 municipal scientific research platforms.

As a "new engine" of the marine economy, the cluster has cultivated four high-quality industrial chain segments: seaweed processing and functional products, marine biomedicine and pharmaceutical intermediates, marine biomedical materials, and marine health foods. These efforts have resulted in complementary advantages, interconnected industries, and coordinated development. This year, the area's marine industrial output value is projected to reach nearly 10 billion yuan, positioning it as a new role model for enhancing the quality and efficiency of the marine biological industry at the provincial, municipal, and district levels.
