Shandong Rizhao Green Tea Ushers in the "Tea Estate Era"

Recently, Shandong Rizhao's green tea industry reached a milestone moment—after a stringent selection process, the first batch of 12 tea enterprises distinguished themselves and successfully advanced to the "Rizhao Green Tea Estate," signifying the official implementation of Rizhao's "tea estate economy" innovative framework, modeled after the French wine estate concept.

The entry requirements for qualifying as a "Rizhao Green Tea Estate" are highly stringent: Tea companies must own tea gardens covering no less than 150 mu, with soil organic matter content exceeding 20g/kg, and the forest coverage rate in these tea gardens must be above 70%. For winter protection, reasonable intercropping of tea groves is required, and the amino acid content in tea leaves must exceed 4%. Tea companies must obtain certifications for Green Food or higher, as well as the QS quality and safety system. They should also adopt green pest control techniques, such as "spring pests, autumn prevention," while ensuring full traceability with a comprehensive visual tracking system throughout the production process.

Rizhao is the largest high-quality tea production area in China's high-latitude regions. The city leads Shandong Province in terms of tea plantation area, output, and production value. The establishment of the "Rizhao Green Tea Estate" is anticipated to boost the brand influence and market competitiveness of Rizhao's green tea industry.
