Under the guidance of the "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" goals, Tai'an's installed capacity for new energy power generation has been steadily increasing, reaching 6.54 million kilowatts in 2024, which constitutes 63.2% of the total installed power capacity. After ongoing exploration, Tai'an City has leveraged innovation to open the door to green energy transformation, ranging from the development of smart microgrids to advancements in salt cavern compressed-air energy storage.
New energy must not only be producible but must also be stably supplied and adequately utilized. Currently, Tai'an has completed the construction of 9 smart microgrid projects, achieving a local consumption rate of over 85% for "green electricity". The pilot construction of smart microgrids will further enhance the local utilization rate of renewable energy, improve enterprises' self-peaking and self-balancing load capacities, enable the coordinated operation of microgrids with distribution and main power grids, support the development of a new power system, and drive the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of energy.
