Weihai, Shandong: Enhancing Competitive Advantages of Ships, Tires, and Other Key Exports

In the face of the complex and ever-changing global economic and trade environment, enterprises in Weihai focus on core technology breakthroughs and strategies for the entire industrial chain. They have continued tapping into the international market and fostering made-in-Weihai products to shine globally through independent R&D and intelligent upgrading.

This year, Weihai has implemented a plan to promote foreign trade to consolidate its foothold in traditional markets such as Japan, the Republic of Korea, Europe, and the United States and expand in emerging markets, such as Africa and Southeast Asia. Efforts have been ramped up to develop backbone carriers worth tens of billions of RMB for foreign trade and strengthen the competitive advantages of ships, tires, printers, and other key exports. The Policy List for Promoting High-Quality Development of Foreign Trade in Weihai City, issued at the beginning of the year, focuses on expanding in the international market in a diversified manner, cultivating new driving forces for foreign trade, and promoting innovative development of cross-border e-commerce, among other seven areas. It has outlined 35 policy measures to support enterprises and help import and export enterprises go global faster.
