In the first quarter of this year, the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) dispatched 80 TIR international transport vehicles, carrying goods with a total value of exceeding 54 million yuan and weighing 1,183 tons in total.
At present, the SCODA has established four TIR international road routes, encompassing China-Russia, China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan, and China-Kazakhstan. This development marks the initial formation of a regional hub for international road transport. To date, a total of 372 TIR international transport vehicles have been dispatched, with the cumulative cargo value of goods exceeding 255 million yuan and weighing over 4,600 tons. The network supports the transportation of 40 categories of goods, including high value-added goods such as food, machinery, and electronic equipment, serving more than 1,000 import and export enterprises.
TIR stands for "Transports Internationaux Routiers" or "International Road Transport". The TIR system is a global customs facilitation and clearance system in the field of international cross-border cargo transportation based on the United Nations Convention. It eliminates the need for reshipment and unloading, offering the advantages of streamlined customs clearance procedures and fast transportation turnover. The transportation cost is about one-quarter of that of air transport, and the duration of cross-border transport can be reduced to 7-10 days.
