In March of this year, the Dongying Municipal People's Government officially signed an agreement of strategic zero-carbon city cooperation and the Dongying CATL Zero-Carbon Industrial Park project. This partnership marks the establishment of CATL's first industrial park in China powered by a high proportion of direct green electricity. Under the agreement, the two parties will collaborate on zero-carbon industrial park construction, industrial decarbonization, technological innovation, application of new products and technologies, and new energy transportation electrification. Together, they aim to create a model zero-carbon city and a blueprint for industrial green transformation.
Notably, Shandong's saline-alkali lands in northern Shandong and coal mining subsidence areas in southwestern Shandong have become key resources for new energy development — aligning well with CATL's industrial strategy in Shandong. By building photovoltaic power stations on subsided water surfaces in coal mining subsidence areas, Jining has pioneered a low-carbon transformation path for resource-dependent cities while boosting green electricity production. This initiative also serves as a major incentive for leading enterprises like CATL to establish operations in the region.
