Recently, the First Ocean Decade International Coastal Cities Conference concluded in Qingdao. The Qingdao Declaration was released at the Closing Ceremony, calling for coastal cities, ports, and participants and relevant stakeholders of the Ocean Decade initiative worldwide to work together.
The Declaration proposes six major action initiatives: establish a global cooperative platform for marine cities, calling for coastal cities worldwide to join the "Coastal Cities" platform and build a blue partnership network; promote cooperation in marine technology innovation, integrate marine science with urban science, and empower the development of marine cities; address the challenges of global climate change and develop clean energy; protect marine biodiversity and maintain the health of marine ecosystems; develop a sustainable blue economy, promote the growth of emerging industries and the transformation of traditional industries, and create new quality productive forces; cultivate blue citizens and enhance public awareness of the ocean.
