Shandong: Optimizing and Strengthening Marine Strategic Scientific and Technological Capabilities

The marine industry is a strategic area for high-quality development. Shandong is a major maritime province, with a long coastline, rich marine resources and many excellent ports. The marine economy has become a crucial driver of Shandong's economic growth.

The Government Work Report of Shandong outlines specific measures to optimize and strengthen marine strategic scientific and technological capabilities, modern marine industries, and world-class clusters of marine ports, thus continuously building a "Maritime Shandong" with surging blue momentum. Shandong hosts 50 national-level marine research institutions and innovation platforms, as well as 236 marine technology platforms at or above the provincial level, leading to numerous innovative achievements. The report highlighted Shandong's efforts in coordinating marine science and technology resources, building high-quality national marine technology innovation platforms, and improving the service capacity of the national marine comprehensive test site. This indicates that Shandong has been paying more and more attention to technological innovation in the marine sector.
