The Proportion of R&D Investment by Enterprises in the Total Social R&D Investment in Shandong Ranks First in China

Recently, the 2025 Shandong Provincial Sci-tech Work Conference was held. According to the conference, Shandong has over 35,000 high-tech enterprises, ranking fourth in the country; the number of national sci-tech small- and medium-sized enterprises has surpassed 50,000, ranking third nationwide; the proportion of R&D investment from enterprises accounts for 88.5% of the total social R&D investment, making it the highest in the country; over 90% of major scientific and technological projects in the province are led by enterprises.

The province's system for promoting industry development through science and technology is continuously improving, with ongoing breakthroughs in core technologies in key areas and an increasingly greater role of enterprises in innovation. The province has implemented a total of 29 major fundamental research projects and 124 significant sci-tech breakthrough projects, along with accelerated execution of 28 sci-tech demonstration projects such as "Hydrogen into Ten Thousand Homes" and "Beidou Star Dynamic Energy," resulting in breakthroughs in several core technologies in key areas. The world's first commercial carbon fiber subway train, 12-inch silicon carbide substrates, optical-grade lithium niobate crystals, and 145GHz optical component analyzers have all been launched.
