In recent years, Shandong has further promoted the construction of "granary at sea" and continued to promote the green and high-quality development of fishery. In 2024, the total output of aquatic products in Shandong is expected to remain above 9 million tons, ensuring the safe and effective supply of aquatic products.
In terms of strengthening overall planning and policy supply, Shandong has successively issued opinions on promoting the high-quality development of modern fisheries and accelerating the development of deep-sea aquaculture, improved measures and regulations such as those for marine ranching construction and quarantine in producing areas of aquatic fingerlings, formulated implementation plans such as pilot projects for green circular development of fishery, and introduced policies and measures to support the healthy development of marine ranching. The pace of fishery transformation and upgrading continues to accelerate.
In terms of actively expanding the development space for aquaculture through advanced technologies, Shandong has built marine ranching with high standards, successfully completed the comprehensive pilot task of national-level marine ranching construction, and built the first marine ranching observation network in China. A total of 72 national-level marine ranches have been established in Shandong, making the province rank first in China in both quantity and scale.
