The Eighth Plenary Session of the Twelfth CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the Economic Work Conference of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee were held in Jinan recently. The conference has established plans for the 2025 economic work, which includes strengthening efforts to attract investment and continuing to enhance the Select Shandong platform as a key priority for Shandong's economic agenda in 2025.

Select Shandong is a public service platform for investment and talent attraction in the province organized by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Shandong Province, undertaken by the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, and operated by Shandong Internet Media Group. Select Shandong closely focuses on creating a new hub for opening-up. Over the past six years since its launch, it has actively explored and practiced paths for attracting investment. A coordinated working system for investment and talent attraction has been established at the provincial, municipal, and county levels, enabling comprehensive tracking and support throughout the entire project implementation process to ensure successful project execution.

In 2024, Select Shandong underwent a comprehensive redesign and upgrade in accordance with several deployment requirements from the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Shandong Province. During the process, Select Shandong established a two-way project information sharing mechanism in collaboration with the investment promotion departments of all 16 cities, departments responsible for investment and talent attraction in 189 parks, and the task force for the ten leading industries in the province. To meet the demands of investment and talent attraction, Select Shandong has established seven major databases covering projects, industries, parks, job positions, policies, talents, and guests. Currently, the project database includes 3,156 projects, aggregating information from national open platforms such as the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area, as well as details from 189 parks across 16 cities in the province. Additionally, the other databases have recorded 18,745 job openings, 4,734 national, provincial, and municipal policies, nearly 3,000 guests from the three sessions of the Conference of Great Business Partners, Connecting Shandong with Fortune Global 500, and the "Select Shandong" Online Investment Fair and online roadshows, and 3,770 job positions, with a demand for over 9,000 high-level talents.

Under the guidance of the 2025 Shandong Economic Work Conference, Select Shandong will innovate the construction of AI investment promotion scenarios, using the Yihe New Area and other areas as pilot projects to advance AI investment promotion scenarios in industrial parks and zones. Relying on personnel dispatched through platforms such as the People's Government of Shandong Province, the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province, and the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province, Select Shandong will enhance the planning and organization of overseas cooperation information and economic and trade exchange activities, focusing on key national strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative. Additionally, Select Shandong aims to explore new models of investment cooperation that combine capital, projects, and industrial enterprises, utilizing QFLP funds and capital from central state-owned enterprises.
