The National Immigration Administration of the People's Republic of China issued a notice on December 17, announcing that the visa-free transit policy will be fully relaxed and optimized, starting from the notice date. The stay duration for foreign nationals from 54 countries eligible for visa-free transit in the Chinese mainland has been extended from the previous 72 hours and 144 hours to 240 hours. The number of provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) that can be visited under this policy has increased from 19 to 24, with 21 ports of entry and exit added.
The newly added 21 ports include three international airport ports in Shandong Province, namely Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport, Yantai Penglai International Airport, and Weihai Dashuipo International Airport. Currently, the 240-hour visa-free transit service is available at five ports in Shandong Province, including the Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport and Qingdao Port (Passenger), which were previously announced to provide the 72-hour and 144-hour visa-free transit service.
To facilitate the smooth implementation of the new policy, the Shandong Entry-Exit Border Inspection General Station has set up specialized zones dedicated to the 240-hour visa-free transit at the five ports. Additionally, measures have been taken to streamline the process of filling out arrival cards for foreign nationals, with self-service machines providing card-completing support in multiple languages (including English, French, Portuguese, Japanese, and Korean) installed at all travel inspection ports across the province.
