Shandong Issues Document to Support the High-Quality Integrated Development of Port, Industry, and City in Rizhao

Recently, the Shandong Provincial People's Government issued a document backing the high-quality integrated development of the port, industry, and city in Rizhao City. The aim is to support the city in better leveraging its location, port, and industrial advantages and accelerate the building of a new model for the high-quality integrated development of port, industry, and city so that it can further assist the province in marine management and marine economy development, develop a world-class marine port cluster, and create a new hub for the modern marine sector.

First, the province will enhance the port's competitive advantages. It supports Rizhao Port in accelerating its transformation into a trade port, financial port, logistics port, and hub port, establishing a comprehensive service system that integrates bulk cargo and container transport, shipping routes in coastal waters and open ocean, and multimodal transport. The goal is to develop Rizhao into an important gateway port for the land-sea corridor along the Yellow River and a pivotal hub for land-sea connectivity and transfer in the Yellow River Basin, thus building a convenient seaport for the Yellow River Basin and the New Eurasian Land Bridge economic corridor.

Second, it aims to implement the "train + ship" rail-sea express line project, expanding sea-rail intermodal services from Rizhao Port to Taiwan (China), Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and Europe, as well as land-sea intermodal services to Russia. It will also stabilize the operation of the land-sea express line connecting the Republic of Korea and Japan and European countries, cultivate various characteristic brands for cross-border trains, cross-border e-commerce trains, and the "railway express customs clearance" mode, thereby expanding the scale of transit services for sea-rail intermodal cross-border shipping at Rizhao Port.
