List of Ten Strong Counties for Sci-tech Innovation in Shandong Province for 2024 Released

Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of Shandong Province and the Shandong Provincial Department of Finance jointly announced the list of Strong Counties for Sci-tech Innovation in Shandong Province for 2024. Ten counties (cities and districts) in the province made the list: Licheng District of Jinan City, Jiaozhou City, Lijin County, Rencheng District of Jining City, Feicheng City, Wendeng District of Weihai City, Linshu County, Decheng District of Dezhou City, Chiping District of Liaocheng City, and Bincheng District of Binzhou City.

These ten counties (cities and districts) have the following characteristics. First, R&D investment is relatively high. The total R&D expenditure of the ten places reached 31.361 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.08%, accounting for 13.26% of the province's total. Second, enterprises are active in innovation. The number of enterprises that are included in the national science and technology SME database in the ten places reached 4,862, a year-on-year increase of 53.28%, accounting for 10.64% of the province's total. Third, achievements in innovation are impressive. The sales revenue from new products of industrial enterprises above the designated size in the ten places amounted to 520.420 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 35.29%, accounting for 11.04% of the province's total; the added value of the "four new economies," which refer to new technology, new business patterns, new development modes, and new industry, accounts for more than 20% of GDP in all of the ten places. Notably, the proportion in Decheng District reached up to 60.7%, ranking first in the province.
