Recently, the Information Office of the Qingdao Municipal People's Government convened a press briefing on the initiative of China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) for quality enhancement and capacity expansion to promote high-quality development. It was revealed at the press conference that China has assumed the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and is scheduled to host the Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State (SCO Summit) in 2025. As a burgeoning platform for international collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative, SCODA must continue to align with current circumstances, rethink strategies, and undergo iterative upgrades based on past achievements.
Pursuant to this aim, SCODA has developed the Work Plan for the SCODA's High-quality Development through Quality Enhancement and Capacity Expansion with a focus on promoting the integrated development of "Four Centers and One Institute." The plan outlines key tasks aimed at integrating industrial functions, platform data, infrastructure development, and public services.
It is reported that since the commencement of construction, Qingdao has been actively building the "Four Centers" and the China-SCO Institute of Economy and Trade with a high standard. The city aims to establish a prominent display area for cultural elements, a hub for economic resources, and a major venue for important activities with significant influence among SCO member states.
