Dongying Releases China's First CCUS Industry Development Plan

Recently, the Dongying Municipal People's Government issued the Development Plan for Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Industry in Dongying, making it as the first local CCUS industry development plan in China, and outlining clearer objectives and ideas for advancing the emerging CCUS industry.

It is reported that Dongying has emerged as the region with the most comprehensive range of CO2 flooding and storage equipment in China. The city's refineries have built an annual CO2 capture capacity of 1.095 million tons, while the chemical utilization capacity has reached 496,800 tons annually. Additionally, its CCUS industrial cluster has been recognized as one of Shandong Province's future industrial clusters.

By 2035, Dongying plans to complete multiple million-ton full-process CO2 flooding and storage projects, alongside several hundred-thousand-ton chemical and biological utilization technology projects, and a million-ton CO2 saline aquifer sequestration project. CO2 capture capacity is projected to reach tens of millions of tons with a planned ten-million-ton CCUS cluster, and the main revenue of the CCUS industry is expected to surpass 50 billion yuan.
