Recently, the 2024 World Virtual Reality Innovation Conference was held by the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province and the Qingdao Municipal People's Government. It is reported that Shandong takes virtual reality as one of the seven future industries, and has successfully cultivated a number of backbone leading enterprises in the fields of intelligent hardware, content production and application scenarios. A new pattern of coordinated development of technology, products, services and application has been established, and the virtual reality industry has accelerated its growth.

In recent years, Shandong has deeply implemented the quality improvement initiative of the virtual reality industry. Specifically, it has made overall plans to coordinate its efforts in innovation guidance, upgrade and reinforcement of weak links in the industrial chain, application demonstration and industrial ecosystem optimization, so as to promote the development and growth of the industry. As a result, the number of enterprises in the province's virtual reality industry chain reached over 260.

According to the head of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province, Shandong is continuously improving its policies and measures in the field of virtual reality. It is increasing special support for enterprises in the metaverse sector by issuing provincial rewards and subsidy policies to support the construction of virtual reality experience centers.
