Recently, the Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, along with ten other departments, jointly issued the Action Plan for the Development of the Humanoid Robot Industry in Qingdao (2024-2027). This marks Qingdao's first policy document on humanoid robots at the industry's top-level design phase.
According to the action plan, Qingdao will prioritize research and development (R&D) of humanoid robots and their key components, highlight application scenarios in specific industries, and establish a significant domestic hub for the R&D, manufacturing, and application of humanoid robots.
As a future intelligent terminal, the humanoid robot represents an important facet of new quality productive forces, holding significance comparable to that of today's most popular new energy vehicles. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has publicly stated that humanoid robots have the potential to greatly surpass the combined value of all other Tesla products.
Currently, Qingdao boasts significant industrial advantages in intelligent terminal products, such as smart home appliances and new energy vehicles. Looking to the future, Qingdao plans to focus on a "3+2+4" industrial development strategy to foster the clustering of related supporting industries and promote high-quality development in the humanoid robot sector. This will be achieved by consolidating key technical foundations and advancing the manufacturing of complete machine products.
