Shandong: Further Deepening Reforms to Advance the Shandong Model of Chinese Modernization

Recently, the 7th Plenary Session of the 12th CPC Shandong Provincial Committee was held in Jinan. This session focused on strategizing and deploying initiatives for Shandong to further deepen comprehensive reforms and advance the province's practice of Chinese-style modernization in the new era.

The meeting outlined reform tasks that highlight Shandong's characteristics, focusing on national needs, Shandong's capabilities, and public expectations. Several Shandong-specific reform initiatives were proposed, including integrated marine economy reforms in the free trade zone, comprehensive reforms in the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA), and the construction of international logistics corridors. The session also put forward reforms leveraging Shandong's comparative advantages, such as developing new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions and fully unleashing the potential of digital technology-real economy integration. Additionally, over 50 pilot programs and experimental initiatives were proposed, including comprehensive market-oriented reforms for production factors, demonstrative zones for institutional opening-up, pilot zones for integrated urban and rural development, and pilot areas for building a "Beautiful China."

These reform initiatives, which are tailored to Shandong's unique qualities and focused on driving change, are set to give a major boost to the province's push for high-quality growth.
