Since the beginning of 2024, Shandong Province has seen significant success in boosting tourism consumption. In the first half of the year, the province's hospitality and food service industries above a designated size achieved a turnover of 58.25 billion yuan, a 16.3% increase year-on-year. Additionally, 307 key provincial cultural tourism projects saw an investment of 26.78 billion yuan. For the second half of the year, Shandong will focus on tapping into and unleashing tourism consumption potential. The province aims to implement a "1,000 trillion-yuan" cultural tourism consumption promotion initiative, striving to attract 900 million tourists and generate over 1 trillion yuan in tourism revenue for the entire year.

Shandong Province is broadening its efforts to attract more visitors and increase tourism traffic. The province has signed a framework agreement with Henan Province to deepen cultural and tourism exchange and cooperation. Nineteen scenic spots in bordering areas like Heze and Liaocheng have announced over 20 summer promotion policies. Events such as the "Harmony of Rites and Music: Exploring the Qilu Culture through Shandong Relics" exhibition in Hong Kong and promotional events in Japan and South Korea have received enthusiastic responses.

Moving forward, Shandong Province plans to leverage the opening of the Jinan-Zhengzhou and Rizhao-Lankao high-speed railways to expand its reach into central and western provinces in China. The province will also open new international air routes to major source markets and increase the frequency of existing international flights. Shandong will leverage Qingdao's 144-hour visa-free transit policy and support qualified cities like Jinan, Yantai, and Weihai in applying for similar 144-hour visa-free transit programs.
