Digital Economic Aggregate Expected to Account for Over 47% of Shandong’s GDP in 2023

On December 29, the Information Office of the People's Government of Shandong Province held a press conference to interpret the Opinions on Accelerating the High-quality Development of the Digital Economy recently issued by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Shandong Province and the Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Implementation of the "Ten Major Projects" to Promote the High-quality Development of the New-generation IT Industry issued by the People's Government of Shandong Province.

At the conference, Zhang Haibo, Secretary of the Leading Party Members' Group and Director-General of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Shandong Province, said that by 2023, the proportion of the digital economic aggregate in the province's GDP will grow by two percentage points to more than 47%. From January to November 2023, the revenue of the province's IT industry reached 1.83 trillion yuan, up 14.9%. Specifically, electronic information manufacturing grew by 12.4% and software by 16.2%, 10.9 and 2.3 percentage points higher than national levels, respectively. Four enterprises earned a place among the top 15 in the ranking of China's 100 largest electronics enterprises. Seven enterprises were rated as China's 100 largest software enterprises. A batch of major leading projects have been built and put into operation in key fields such as integrated circuits, lithium batteries, and PV. All of these have injected more and more momentum into industrial development. It's expected that the added value of core industries of the digital economy will account for 8.5% of the province's GDP this year.
